KeymasterHi there
I went to work on Monday and the doors were locked and they have closed down. What a shock.
Can I do anything?

KeymasterI’m sorry to hear that you’re facing this situation. Here are some steps you can take if your company closes without notice in South Africa:
- Contact the Company or other employees: Try to get in touch with your employer or HR department to understand the situation and seek clarification. You should also contact co-employees to see if they have any information that may be helpful in enforcing any rights you may have.
- Check for Official Notices: Look for any official notices or announcements from the company or relevant authorities regarding the closure.
- Seek Legal Advice: Consult with a labour lawyer to understand your rights and any potential legal actions you can take.
- Take the matter to the CCMA: If you believe the closure was done unfairly, you can take the matter up with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA) or the Department of Employment and Labour.
- Explore Unemployment Benefits: Check if you are eligible for unemployment benefits or other forms of financial assistance.
- Update Your Resume: Start updating your resume and begin searching for new job opportunities.
- Network: Reach out to your professional network and let them know you’re looking for new opportunities.
- Stay Informed: Keep an eye on news and updates regarding the company and any potential developments.
I hope this helps!
