In South Africa, if your job title changes, it doesn’t necessarily mean you need a completely new contract.

Employers cannot unilaterally change the terms and conditions of employment, including job titles, without consulting the employee.

While a new contract might not be required, the changes should be confirmed in writing. This can be done through an addendum to the existing contract or a formal letter outlining the new job title and any associated changes in duties or responsibilities.
– Material Changes:
If the change in job title comes with significant changes in duties, responsibilities, or other terms of employment, it is best to update the contract to reflect these changes.
If you are happy with what is going on, don’t rock the boat. Raise your concerns with your employer and maybe they can accommodate your need for clarity and and consider an increase.
