Unfortunately there is no legal entitlement to an automatic annual salary increase. However, salary increases are often influenced by several factors:

      1. Employment Contract:
        • Some employment contracts may specify annual salary increases or performance-based raises. It’s important to review your contract to understand your specific terms.  Maybe get an expert to look over it so see if a right to an increase is recorded.
      2. Company Policies:
        • Many companies have policies in place for regular salary reviews and adjustments based on performance, inflation, and market conditions.  Have a look at the Companies Policy and Procedures or speak to the HR Manager
      3. Collective Bargaining Agreements:
        • In unionized environments, salary increases are often negotiated through collective bargaining agreements, which may stipulate annual raises.
      4. Economic Factors:
        • Economic conditions, such as inflation and the overall financial health of the company, can also impact salary increases.
      5. Performance Reviews:
        • Regular performance reviews may lead to salary adjustments based on individual performance and contributions to the company.

While there is no guaranteed annual increase, many employees do receive raises as part of their company’s compensation strategy. If you’re unsure about your situation, it might be helpful to discuss it with your HR department or review your employment contract.

Times are tough but see if the company can meet you half way at least!
